First Friday Art-to-Go Craft Night - Friday, May 4, 2007

Hello friends!

Please join us this Friday, during the First Friday Art Walk (5-8PM) for Art-to-Go Craft Night at Studio STK. This week we will focus on fashion. Bring a fun fabric and we'll help you put together a great summer skirt! Or bring a plain t-shirt or tank and learn techniques for adding your own funky design elements. Its all this Friday, 5 - 8 PM at Studio STK. No charge. Everyone welcome! Come for the whole time, or stop in for a few minutes and see what's going on!

ps. I intended to illustrate this post with glamour shots of the skirt design. Alas, the camera did not cooperate. Pictures will be posted shortly, so check back to see what's cookin'!

Wonderful things

I feel like sharing today, so here are some crafting blogs. First, the local talent...

subsixstudios - a local member of the Burlington Craft Mafia

Burlington Craft Mafia - not really a blog, more like their website, but hey, they're just that great!

May Day Studio - a letterpress workshop in Montpelier VT. Pretty neat looking journals.

And from further afield...

SouleMama - she writes about her family and all the lovely things she creates.

Disdressed family and crafting.

Liz Berg beautiful quilts from an artist in California.

That's all for now. If you or someone you know has a local craft blog/website (local to Burlington VT, I mean) send the link my way. I would love to have a look, and share it here!

No more wishy-washy

Alright folks, here's the deal. No more wishy-washy whatever shall we do on the First Friday Art Walk night for us! Crafting night is here and here to stay. Now, all we require is the presence of all you lovely peoples! We will start planning together now, so by the time the next First Friday (that's May 4, for the calendar challenged among us) rolls around, everything will be in place and everyone will know about it!

So in the spirit of audience participation, very important to us here at SSTK, what crafting techniques would be most interesting to you?

Some ideas, to get the creative thinking started... postcards, felting, quilting, bookmaking, sewing, creature making, kids night, couples crafting, works-in-progress assistance, papiermache, dolls, decorative lamp shades...

First Friday Craft Night

Isn't it just much more exciting to make things yourself? That's what we decided. So instead of having craft shows each month, we decided to opt in favor of a craft night where we invite you to truly join in, and leave with your own handmade craft creation! This month, for the first attempt, we invite you all to bring your work(s) in progress and to share your expertise with other crafters! 5 to 8 PM is the time, the Studio STK Gallery is the place. Drop in anytime and see what's happening!

Update

Update on this craft show business. In an effort to not do too many millions of things all at once, we have decided to postpone the beginning of the Studio STK Craft Night for a couple of months. The idea will be to begin in the summer, with the nice long evenings perfect for strolling down to check out the handiwork. In the meantime, do check back here as we plan to have updates and craft-related news posts. Thanks!
