For immediate release...
Studio STK announces an exciting exhibition of Digital Paintings by Andrew Reach. The show, entitled “Whimsies, Conflicts and Desires,” will open with a reception on September 28th from 6 to 9 PM; the exhibition will run through October 22 2007 at Studio STK, 12 North St. in Burlington Vermont.
Andrew Reach was a successful architect in California and Florida, until a crippling illness forced him to leave his work. As a continued outlet for his creativity, and a therapeutic practice to combat pain, Andrew began painting digitally – using computer graphics programs to create worlds of his own. Andrew’s work has been influenced by his renowned architectural pursuits (in addition to several private residences in Los Angeles and Miami, he designed the Miami Courthouse and the University of Miami’s Frost Museum), as well as the hardships and joys of his life. His works, printed at sizes of up to 72 inches, consist of photographs mingled with colors and forms, and nearly always include his carefree “whimsies” – expressions of the artist’s continued spirit in the face of intense pain. Ranging from intricate patterns to psychedelic swirls of intense color, all of these works surpass their paper boundaries to create mesmerizing and compelling experiences for the viewer.
We look forward to seeing you at this amazing show!
